Mainsaver SaaS, TSP Service, Never Misses a Beat during the Massive Southern California Power Outage
SAN DIEGO, CA, October 27, 2011 - Mainsaver® Software’s, a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) solution provider, TSP service never missed a beat during the Southern California power outage. On line customers saw no change in the system, due to extensive power back up and emergency generator systems which manage power to the facility. This incident marks the 3rd major natural disaster to the area, massive fires in 2003 and 2007, none of which have ever resulted in SaaS system downtime.
When a 500-kilovolt high-voltage transmission line from Arizona to California failed, triggering a cascade of events that knocked the San Onofre nuclear power plant offline, Mainsaver Software held strong. 1.4 million San Diego Gas and Electric customers were affected by the outage. The power failure led to school and business closures, suspended water service in some areas, caused flight cancellations, blacked-out traffic lights, silenced radio stations and trapped elevator passengers. Public schools throughout the county and several higher-education institutions were closed the next day.
Adhering to stringent security and disaster recovery guidelines the Mainsaver SaaS systems run multiple versions of Mainsaver software, including the most current 11.6.101 release. Mainsaver supports installations using the SaaS TSP model ranging from 5 to 5000 users and span nearly every vertical market from gas power to hydro power, airports to seaports, chemicals to utilities, paper products to textiles, and medical to pharmaceuticals.
Mainsaver will complete installation of a complete mirrored SaaS installation, running warm, at a second location more than 250 miles from the current systems, further insuring uninterrupted service and meeting the most stringent Disaster recovery plan requirements before the end of the calendar year, translating to even a higher disaster recovery model.
